I had the same problem with one of my sons I stopped them all having a dummy in the day when they were one, but one son refused to give it up in the evening too until he was 4. All I can say is that if your son only uses it at night like mine just let him have it. He will eventually drop it on his own and move onto something else that will give him comfort. Also if he sees other smaller children with dummies make a big fuss and say look at that little baby with their dummy. I did not have any other children in the family to show my son as he was the youngest. Don't upset him just because society says he should not have a dummy. Nobody can see when you put your son to bed so let him do it on his own and cause him no stress.

Just give him cherry dummies if he is already chewing them then this is a sign he no longer needs them and will soon start to ignore them. He is not doing any harm and seems to get comfort from them. Hey things could be worse he could suck his thumb and your stuck with that habit for years!
