if and when ur lil one back chats..u turn to them and get down to their level...hold them firmly by the hand and tell them to look at u in the eye, only then do u tell them not to say no or back chat..then tell them "mummy will not speak to u until u say sorry"..get up, turn around and walk away...dont say a word to them until they apologise..after they do that then u coem back to the issue/problem and deal with it once again...kids want attention..but not the silent treatment..see if that works...it works for my lil b4 i even get a chance to get up and turn my back on him....

This is a tough one. I have a 4 and 2 year old and always take talk-back very seriously. They get "the look" and then the rundown. I ask "Are you the boss? No, Mommy and Daddy are the boss, you don't talk like that to us." If a stern talking to doesn't get a reaction then I do a time-out. The adult has to respond everytime or it's not as effective.
