How do I get rid of pull ups

My son is 3 and my daugher just turned 5. Both of my kids still wear pullups and night and both wake up wet. Im afraid I may have made them lazy and I don't know how to get them out of the pullups. Anyone give me advise or how long does it normally take.

I bought a waterproof bed cover and just put them in panties. I said, pull ups are all gone, if you have to pee, it's okay to get up and run to the potty. We put a nice nightlight in there so you can see. Most of the time they will go in them because they know that is the use of a pull up. When they are in underwear make sure and let them know it'll be wet and uncomfortable and get sheets all yucky if they pee in bed. Try and restrict so many liquids before bed - it seemed to help mine stay dry if we did no liquids after supper. Maybe a sip of water after brushing teeth before bed. My daughter stopped using them at 3. She peed her bed twice, was NOT happy about it, screamed, cried, and decided it wasn't something she wanted to repeat. One day she came downstairs and said "i peed last night in the potty. I did it REALLY quiet!" she was so proud of herself. Just let them know what you expect of them and just lose the pull ups.
