My 2yr old daughter is constantly hitting her 1yr old sister. Sometimes out of frustration, sometimes just to do something. I've tried everything short of spanking her. I even tell her that she should love her sister and make her say sorry and to be nice and she does it willingly as she gets ready to hit again.

I have a 3 year old who does this as well.. I have been watching "supernanny" and you can call me crazy but her "naughty chair" helps a lot. everytime your child does soemthing they shouldn't such as hit tell them what they did is wrong and they have to sit in the naughty chair for a couple minutes and make sure the chair is the same chair everytime and make sure there is nothing they can get into while sitting in the chair as well as no tv or anythign.. when they get up explain again that what they did is not somethign we should do. That is my suggestion and so far so good for me on this end. Hope it helps.

The best advice I got was to choose sturdy friends, understanding parents, and use your words to model what behavior you expect. I.e. "No hitting. Hitting hurts." repeat "No hitting."

at the age of 2 they think they can walk all over you and trust me my mr man did till i found out i was pregnat again with another boy. I started time out and it was a life savor count to 3 to understand what she did and to appogize. If no appoligie she is put in time out. and it is a tough situation because they are so close in age and Girls.. Oh and of course they are gunna throw that temper tantrum... I swear my son is the loudest!!

Hmm this is a toughy. I guess the only thing I can suggest is to stay constant with her. Every signal time she hits put her on time out for two minutes, make it away from everyone else and facing a wall. Eventually it will work but it is one of those things that don't have a quick fix. Stay strong mama!
