Recently when picking my son up from day care, I've been given reports of him biting the other children. He has done it in the past but I thought we were over it.The daycare centre made him have time out each time to realize what he had done. But now it has stared up again ? Over the last week he has biten about 20 times, today being very nasty where he drew blood. He is not like this at home so I can't understand it.

Can anyone please help me, what else can I do?

How old is your son? Children bite a lot out of frustration. When they are 18 months to probably 2 or 2 1/2 it's hard for them to verablize why their upset at a friends, so they bite.

When my oldest was around 20 months I had this problem with him. It was frustrating. He knew what he was doing was wrong, but it didn't stop him. And, for me, it was embarrassing signing the bite slips every day!

I called the pediatrician and the advice they gave me worked for my son and I have since passed it along to friends and it has worked for them, too. You take your thumb and 3rd finger and press gently where their jaw is on either side and say firmly, "no bite!" Try it on yourself. It's uncomfortable, but not harming in any way. I used it and had the daycare use it and within a week no more biting! Hope it helps you!

Yes, he can't tell me why. He has been biting one particular child, but today was a different one.
