she goes to sleep about 6 to 7 o'clock but wakes at 4 in the morning and wants to play or watch tv. she does not have a nap in the afternoon and also goes to nursery every morning so she should be sleeping more i think.

You could try moving bed time later- she may be at a stage where she needs less sleep. We went through the same thing- A couple of times. I can't remember exactly what we did because I was exhausted...less sugar/water in the afternoon/evening, close curtains and blinds, leave a couple of books on the end of her bed she could look at until you come in.

My 3 yr old is starting to get interseted in time- when she needs her 30 min down time in the afternoon, I show her on a clock that when the big hand is here and the little hand is here you can get up- maybe you could try a clock and mark the hands to show her when she can get out of bed.

I have also heard of people putting a lamp/night light on a timer and when the light turns off then they can get up for the day.

I hope some of these items help, but I am guessing you will try a bunch of them and she will go back to her old sleep schedule. Good luck!

We had the same problem with my son who is 2 1/2. It wasn't every morning, but we noticed that sometimes it was because he was sleeping too long during his afternoon nap and some mornings he was just getting up for no reason that we knew of. My husband and I would get up, not turn on any lights, change his diaper and tell him that it was still time to sleep. We will tell him things like the sun is still sleeping, it's not time to wake up. Hope this helps or at least gives you some ideas that may work for you and your family.
