How do I stop my two year old from biting people?

This is a new issue with our two year old. She has started biting people for no reason. No fighting, no wrestling, she just goes up and bites people! My husband and I are so stunned right now that we don't know what to do other than a timeout. Any advice would be welcome.

it might be cruel but you may have to be cruel to be kind and bite her back softly so she realises that it does indeed hurt.

I would also say to bite her back gently. I had to do it with my now 5 year old boy he used to be awful for biting when he was about 2 years old and now my 20 month old daughter has started biting.

Trust me with most kids biting them back is the only way to get them to stop. Try softly but you do need to make it hard enough for her to realise that it does hurt. You will find alot of kids that bite never went through any other stage of hitting or fighting or that sort of thing.
