both my girls would pull their diaper off mostly because they just wanted to be naked and it would get some sort of reaction that they thought was fun. The best advice i can give you is have a potty available to her without having to tell you, talk about the potty and what its for and I found if there is a special toy/book to enjoy while you sit and talk to her while she sits on the potty she will either get the hang of what she is doing or she's not ready in which case leave the potty there for her exploration and reinforce the diaper with a little duck tape...Don't worry I used to think I would be spending the rest of my life changing diapers and now I miss those times now as soon as I walk into a store or the bank someone yells I gotta go potty, and as soon as you get back sure enough someone else has to go. Hang in there !

the child def. has to be ready. taking off the diaper doesn't mean that he/she is ready if that is the only sign that is. you can put the diaper on backwards, that's what i did with my daughter she took hers off just because she likes to strip down or put him/her in a onesie

i'm trying with my 17 month old daughter. she loves sitting on her potty chair. she lets me know when she's gone in her diaper, so she is aware of what she is doing. we just started on monday and we had a small sprinkle last night before bed. she's watched me go potty for weeks now so she gets the idea (kinda). i guess just keep taking them along and putting then on a potty too! good luck!

If you do a search on potty training on the babycentre website they have a couple of great articles on recognising when your little one is ready to potty train, and also how to prepare them for it. They suggest just sitting bub on the pot at a regular time each day with clothes all on at first (pick a time when a poo is likely) - but never force them to sit on it. Then progress to sitting them on it with their pants down. It sounds lovely, but, talk about poo - and how mummy and daddy do poo and wee in the toilet - they need to be able to tell you when they need to go so they need a word or a sign for it. Good luck!

I have been trying to potty train my 18 month old since she wazs 11 months. All I can say is just keep putting them on the potty.

You might want to put them in a onesie or in a sleeper with feet and a zipper that also buttons, so they don't have access to their diapers.

This is just my opinion but I think 17 months is too young. I have a 17-month-old and there is no way he's ready for that. I would wait and do it when he/she turns 2.

Is there a reason you need to potty train so early? I've read that children will let you know when they're ready.
