I have a 2 1/2 girl who can sometimes have a hard time going down for bed. How do I get her to tranistion to a toddler bed?

Well, I told my daughter, This is a big girl bed and only big girls get beds like these. Mommy and Daddy have a bigger bed, but its just like yours... Cribs are for babies.... You can show her how she is a big girl by pointing out different things she does to be a big girl... You go potty in the toilet, You pick your own lunch, You can put your shoes on or get dressed all by your self, That means you are a big girl...

What I did with my daughter( she was 13months old) was just put her in the toddler bed and the first night she had a little trouble sleeping because she wasn't used to it but after that night she had no problems. She puts herself to bed now even for her naps. But all children are different. some will love it some will hate and some will deal with it. But it all depends on the child's feelings and willingness to want to move or change beds. I wish you luck and hope all goes well!

What I did with my daughter was read to her until she fell asleep. I have a gate at her room so she can't get out. Some nights she would just cry herself to sleep. I know that sounds mean but it only took a few night before she was fine in her toddler bed. She was 27 months when we did this.

I just put my daughter in the bed. If you don't make a big deal out of it neither will she. Of course she will get out of bed, and that is when you go in put her back in bed, and tell her she needs to stay in the bed, give her a kiss, say I love you, and leave the room. Hope this helps :)

When i decided to put my daughter into a bed, i let her pick which sheets went on the bed, which duvet etc and she helped me make the bed, then we lay down on the bed and read a couple of stories - she thought it was really nice. Every morning her dad gets her out of bed and she climbs in bed with me for cuddles and coffee. I love my bed and enjoy spending time there, i just always expected that she would too. As the bed is near a window - that she cant open (yet) she enjoys climbing on the bed and watching outside.
