How many hours of sleep is your 2yr old getting for nap and night?

My son Eric is 2yr 2mo and he sleeps like 9 hrs a night and 2-3hrs for nap.

I'm wonder if 9 hours is too little for night? Is he getting enough?

He sleeps til 5am every day, never sleeps much later, so I try to put him to bed at 6 but he won't sleep til like 7 or 8

He naps from like 1030-1ish so maybe he's just making it up in nap time but I just want to make sure he sleeps enough!

I wish he'd sleep all 12 hours at night so I could get like 10 or so myself, :)

My daughter is 2 and stopped taking naps for me at home when she was 22 months-she still takes naps at daycare. Anyway, she goes to bed around 8:30 every night although we are starting to push it back to 8pm. She sleeps on average 10 hours at night-12 if she's really tired. I think you're child is getting enough sleep since it's more then mine right now. To get more sleep I would start putting him to bed a little later to get him to sleep a little later in the morning. Every child is different - most 2 year olds need between 11-16 hours of sleep. I have one of those "sleepers" - 12 hours at night, and a good two hour nap in the middle of the day.

Does your child seem tired? keep in mind that tired can be displayed as manic behavior where they are really hyper. If your child is functioning well with the 11 hours of sleep, then I would say, you are doing a GREAT job! if you gut is telling you that your child needs more sleep, then try putting him to bed a bit earlier. start gradually, increasing in ten or fifteen minute intervals. and expect it to take a week or two for the new time to settle in with your son.

Hey, when my son was 2, he already stopped taking noon naps... and the night's sleep was around 11-12 hrs...
He generally was playful & active so dint have to worry about his sleep pattern.
All children have different requirements & interests...
If I am given a chance, I would too like to sleep more than 8hrs which I don't get. :)

Hi have 16 month old twins and they sleep from 7 pm to 6.30 am. They normally nap around 1h30 - 2 hours at noon. I think if they are happy they slept enough. Children are different my one always wakes first so sleeps less than the other and his is fine with the amount of sleep. I think 7 or 7:30 pm is good go to bed time for mommies and babies they are not over tired yet. Sometimes mine will play and talk in bed for 30 min before actually sleeping and I think some alone time is good.

My boy goes to sleep anywhere between 7.30pm - 9pm and wakes up between 6.30am-8am. It varies depending on whether it's a work day and a few other factors. I'm not fond of the 9pm nights but sometimes he just won't go to sleep! He naps between 0-2 hours a day. Yep, some days no nap at all! It's a trade off though as he goes to bed early then. Generally 10-11 hours at night and a nap during the day.

If Eric is generally happy and alert then it may be enough for him. Maybe not enough for you though understandably!

I think 7:30, 8:00 is good bed time for a two year old but i would make the change gradually. And my two year olds naps last any where fron 1 to 3 hours and i usually lay him down at noon. I dont think his naps are really affected by the amount of sleep he gets at night. All childrens bodys are diffrent and some just sleep more than others ;).
