I warn them once. They are little and it is hard for them to remember everything. However, if it is a voilent offence, I put her directly in time out.

one warning, but make sure you speak directly to him when you give him the warning. if he does it again it's straight to the naughty step. remember when disciplining your child you're not really doing it for whatever stage their in, think of it as preventative and training for all the troubles to come, as they get older their problems only get bigger. set a firm base. one warning every time and eventually he'll actually start to take you seriously and listen the first time.

I usually do the three strikes your out thing... But it depends if I tell Alivia no and she does it again right after that then I will put her in time out

I give one warning and I count to five if he hasn't stop by then its the corner.

I give only one warning to my 21 month old son.  If that warning was given yesterday it still counts.  Once and that is it, not once a day.  Otherwise he just keeps pushing a little further each time to see what he can get away with.  So far it is working but we are still new at time out being that I was a little late in understanding how early you can put your child in time out and it have an effect.

i give no warnings if they do something wrong then timeout it is!! no warnings they just go on deaf ears... and the kids start to not take you serious if you constantly just give warnings..hope that helped!

When my 2.5-yr-old doesn't listen, after I've told her something 2 or 3 times, then I start counting to 3. I count 1 as a sort of warning. I re-iterate what I need, then count 2. She usually grins then and does what I want. Rarely do we get to 3, but if we do, then there's the punishment.

At first I would give him two or three warnings. He always seemed to try and push it further when I did this. Now it's one strick and your out... it seems to work. I bought one of these naughty mats with a reward chart. That seems to be working wonders too. Best of luck...
