My son sat up at 6 months with some help from the Boppy pillow. Just tucked it around him and it worked pretty well.

Some babies prefer to spend more time lying and playing with toys. Sitting will come when they are ready, (usually by 6-7 months) when they will struggle to get up themselves and then just need support or to be surrounded by cushions. If your baby is put on her front and pushes herself up on her hands and if she is rolling over then just be patient. If she is not doing these things then maybe speak to your health visitor about it and she can reassure you that everything is developing normally.

All babies are different but with encouragement most can sit by about 6/7 months. I found the best way to try and help them is to sit with them on the floor inbetween your legs with a range of toys in front of them. It encourages them to sit up but if they fall you can soon prop them up again.
