it really depends on the child. girls are usually ready before boys, but that's not always true. i started trying to train my son last summer just before he turned 2 because he showed a lot of signs of being ready. he was not actually ready though. i'm trying again now that he's 2 1/2, and hope to have him out of diapers by summer. according to an article i recently read (babycenter.com maybe?) most kids are trained between 2 1/2-3 years old. but my sitter's son was not until he was nearly 5...though his sister trained herself in one day at age 3. so there really is no magic age...but be ready for anything. i agree to get a potty and introduce it to your child so they can explore it and try whenever they feel comfortable. good luck!

Really when they are ready. I am a mother of 5. Meg, my youngest, doesn't like nappies and is therefore very aware of what is coming out of her! She follows me everywhere so has been fascinated by everything in the bathroom from around her first birthday. She brought me her potty for the first time today - she is 19 months and did a wee in it. It really depends on you and the child. Two of my boys had no inclination to take their nappies off until they were 3. It just happens.

It really depends when your child is ready, just watch for signes. Some doctors say from 18 month, some say as soon as they can sit. We started when my little one was 26 month old and he is still not fully potty trained. Just wait for the sign that they are ready, otherwise you will be very frustrateded like I was. How old is your little one. All the best!!!

I think potty training depends on the child!! Introduce it to them young so they dont feel rushed into it! Then try putting them on the "potty" and wait untill they show that they are ready for it!! My daughter is 2 and only uses th potty when she wants to, and to me that is fine, try not to force them into it.
