I'm raising my granddaughter, she was 17 months when she started to walk. She was also a premie, don't know if that had anything to do her being slow walking.

same with my daughter, she started walking very soon after her 1st birthday. She will be running around before you know it!

Sounds to me she will be walking very soon! My son is now 15mo and started walking at 12 mo. Encourage her to walk holding her hands and making her reach for things she wants. She will be walking soon.

My daughter was walking at 10 months, but don't worry....every baby is different! Lots of people post about how quickly their little one does things, sometimes it just seems they make it up as they go along as it gets a bit ridiculous ( mine were walking at 6-7 months blah blah blah!) My friend tells me she didn't walk til she was about 2 1/2! she had older siblings who ran around after her, so she didn't need to walk! Don't let anyone make you feel bad ! I had a push along walker for my daughter, which she used for about a week when I showed her what it did, but I just sat down on the floor with her one night, and encouraged her to take a few steps on her own between my partner and I until we were getting further and further apart.....and she had it down in a couple of days. She's 13 months next week and she runs, climbs stairs (with help of course) there'll be no stopping your one either shortly! I found that once she started walking, the baby stage was gone :-(

My son started walking at 9 months but that's way early. The norm is 13-16 months. It sounds like she is going to take off real soon. Just watch out for what wish for. Walking is not all it cracks up to be.

Anywhere between 10 and 16 months is average. If she is walking around tables then she'll be walking on her own before you know it! Keep encouraging her to walk to you. Reach your hands out to her the next time she is standing and give her a couple of feet of space to venture out on her own.
