My son is 2 and 1/2 and will only eat a couple of foods and I am trying to stop making two separate meals for dinner. I try and make simple meals like grilled chicken and veggies and he will not eat any of it. He has gone as far as sitting at the table for an hour and just cried or ignored the food. He will only eat PB&J sandwiches and chicken nuggets, yogurt and he loves to drink milk. Any tips on how to get him to try other foods.

I don't know if this will help, but I get my 2 yo to try a new food by "stealing" it off his plate. I reeeeach for it real slow, and make a big deal of trying to get it away(slowly). then when he grabs it and says "Mine" I pout for a bit, and he pops it in his mouth without even looking at it. The 2 important parts of this: make sure it's a food you will eat! and be a good actor/ess, 'cause he want's to believe that he's getting away with something.
Best of Luck, Hope this helps....

I had this exact problem with my step-son. He would only eat french fries, chicken nuggets, and hot dogs. I made a "New Foods Chart" each row had about 15 colums. Each time he ate a new food he'd get to pick out a star sticker and fill a spot, then when the row was full he'd get a reward, like a new toy. We stopped letting him pick out new toys in between so the only way he could get a new toy was to earn it by eating new food. It took a few days to get him to start trying the new foods, but once we made a big deal about him eating different things he would go to the refrigerator and find something new to eat! I hope this helps =]

try dips for the veggies for example carrots and dressing....or explain how the foods will make him grow big and strong like dad or his superhero....ive even had to allow my children to help me cook....Ive realized that you have to make dinner fun for example he likes chiken nuggets because he sees the commericals of the nuggets jumping into the sauce
