Thanks everyone. I have spoken with my doctor and she too agrees that it is a phase. I did try the "cry it out" method and at first he cried and cried and cried. He even threw everything out of his crib onto the floor and started hitting the walls, he then went back to sleep and stayed sleep till 8am. The next morning(this morning) he slept the entire night(silently cheering), so lets hope it continues. But thanks for the words of encouragment

hi-my 17month old is waking up at night for a bottle. He used to sleep through but now he doesn't.I asked the doctor and she said he'll go back to sleeping the nite as before,it is just a phase. If I don't come when he cries,he tries to break the crib with his head! My boy doesn't give up easy.....Well hang in there,it should get better.....

That is normal, between 14-15 months and again at 18-19 months they break their sleep pattern. Try the controlled cry method it works great and makes you feel better then just leaving them to cry it out. When they wake up you go in right away and tell them it is time to go Night night, lay them down and leave. Wait 10 min, go back in lay them down, do not talk to him or her and don't make eye contact.. leave.. then back in at 20, 40 and so on.. you keep doubling the time. It sounds like a rough night of no sleep i know but it worked like a charm.. the first night was rough, by the second night the time was cut in half.. by night 3 we were back to sleeping through. It could take as long as 5-6 nights but i have never heard of it taking that long.

I know this sounds cruel, but it works. just let him cry it out. my son did the same thing. i took him to the dr because he wasn't staying asleep i thought something was wrong with him. there wasn't. the next night when he woke up i went in told him he was okay kissed him on the head and went out. he cried for almost 2 hrs on and off. the next night the same thing, but this time he cried for less than an hr....the next couple of nights he would be okay as soon as i went in and kissed him he went back to bed. after 5-6 nights, he was sleeping thru the night again. it's just something they go thru my dr told me, i guess seperation anxiety. give it a try hopefully it will work for you too
