my four yr old refuses most of hte time to go to bed untill 12am some mornings. i have tryed what the profetionals have told me IE walking him back to his room constantly everytime he comes out - first of all tell him it's not on ,after the 3rd time dont say any thing . sitting next to his bed then moving out to his door and taking him back as the same above. i did each of this (starting with the later one first) for 2 weeks each. i continue to do the first one for the last 3almost 4 months , my husband has now taken the door handle off his room so as he cant get out as i'm at the end of my teather (he works nights). i don't like to do this but i have no alternative.

i dont agree with locking them in...but my daughter did this when she was about 2 and usually she would get up a couple times but on the 2nd time up i would warn her that if she got up again she would get a spanking well the 3rd time everynight she would get spanked after a couple months she figured it out...when mommy says bedtime that means go to sleep...and she goes to bed by 9 everynight...good luck
