Getting my son to try anything new is like pulling teeth. He will only eat a handfull of things, no matter how much different foods we try to expose him too. He was a great eater, and would try anything until about 18 months.

He is now 2 1/2, and this is all he will eat:

Mac and Cheese (I have even tried to sneak things in his mac and cheese, such as ground beef, small chunks of ham, veggies etc...but as soon as he see's anything other than his plain ole mac and cheese, he wont eat it!)

Bread with butter (again, Ive tried putting a thin layer of pb or cheeze whiz or jam...as soon as he realizes that anything other than butter is on it, he wont touch it)

Onion Rings

Fries

Small hamburgers from Mickey D's.

The problem is trying to get him to try something new. Does anyone else have this problem? And was there any snacks your fussy toddlers loved? I am pretty much willing to try anything at this point, lol. Thank god he loves his vitamins!

hi my son is 5 and is also extremley fussy, until about age 3 he would eat anything and everything now he mostly eats; vegetable soup, toast, cereal, hotdogs, yogurts and some fruit and veg. Sometimes he refuses to eat his tea if he can smell food he dosnt like! He does like lots of snacky foods though...have you tried making colourful fruit salads and brightly packeged yogurrts etc..? I cant really offer much advice but at least you know its not just your child that does this. Also, my mum said i was just like that at his age and ate mostly beans on toast for years, but i grew out of it eventually so there is light at the end of the tunnel!

My 23 month old is picky too; we cannot get him to eat a single fruit. My pediatrician told me that it’s their way of expressing independence and it will get better. Have you tried the Quaker Oats Oatmeal on the go bars? My son loves them and they are full of essential vitamins and minerals.

I have the same problem with my 2 1/2 year old. I've even tried to puree vegies and mix it in with some of his food even muffins, but it just doesn't work. The only time he eats everything on his plate is at daycare and only because everyone else is eating. I've been told not to worry that it will get better as he gets older.
