My 4 year old daughter has had a rough time this winter. She has been sick more often then not and ended up having her tonsils and adenoids out after chronic sinus infections that werent clearing up. I just had her allergy tested last week and it came back that she was allergic to egg whites. Not a serious one but its definately there.

I work in health care so I know a little bit about what the allergy has been contributing to her health. My question is how do i wean her off eggs? She loves eggs and we have them for breakfast a lot. We eat a lot of chicken too. Should i pull that from her diet as well? I have an appointment with her doctor and a deitician to talk about it but would like some advice from other moms about how to proceed

Its not a big reaction, no hives or anything. She just has been soooo sick in the last 6 months. I want to take them out of her siet all together and am hoping that it will help with all the health problems. Thanks for the idea about the cook book. I didnt even think of that yet now that I am (thinking that is) im sure they have a lot out there that can help make the transition easier on us.. Thanks!

Depending on her reaction to them, it may be best to omit them from her diet. Many kids with mild-moderate allergies can grow out of the allergy in time. Consult her allergist about timing for a possible reintroduction of egg whites in the future. In the meantime, get a copy of "Allergy Cooking With Ease" it helped me to still cook with all my food allergies.

Good luck!
