My 13 month old daughter has a rash that started yesterday. It's mainly on her back, stomach and chest, and face and behind her ears. She does have a few spots on her legs and crotch, too. I looked in a book and think it might be roseola but I'm not sure. She did have a fever for 3 or 4 days but Motrin cleared that up. Now she is stuck with rash and I don't know what to do about it. It doesn't seem to be affecting her though. No itching or scratching but she is slightly irritable. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

If the rash has spread to her face, you definitely need to check with the pediatrician. You don't want to have the rash spread even close to her eyes. My personal opinion is if the rash continues to spread within the next 24 hours, you need to take her to the ER. You can't take any risks and continue to wait. Have you tried putting some benedryl anti itch cream on her? See if that works, but do not put it on her face, but keep her covered up if you intend to put cream on her, that way she doesn't get it on her hands. Good luck!

First maybe check with the pediatrician. I've heard the same thing about roseola. Maybe give it a few more days and see if it clears up. Any redness on the cheeks? If so it might be Fifths Disease. Not to worry, it is harmless to the child. Good Luck!!

Thanks for all your suggestions but Lily is doing much better. The rash faded throughout the day on Sunday and now it's completely gone. Thank goodness.

If it's heat rash Hydrocortisone cream works well. Also put some powder on her after applying the cream.

I would have it checked if it really concerns you. A couple of my children have had Roseola and they where extremely cranky when they had it. The rash appeared a day or two after haveing the high temp (103-104). If it's not bothering her at all and she doesn't have any other symptoms it's probably nothing to stress over.

I'm now thinking it might be heat rash. I looked at some pictures and it looks more like heat rash than roseola. She doesn't have the red cheeks from Fifths either. I'm going to wait til Monday and then make a pediatrician appt. Thanks.
