Please help my lil lady is very independent. She knows when we are tricking her. Shes very smart and determined too. When she started walking she caught on and was walking by ten mths, holding her own bottles at the right time, sippy cups going on the potty and never turning back. BUT I cant trick or get her to give up the binky...PLEASE any suggestions I really need them. Thanks

Thanks everyone...I have to try something she knows when I am trying to trick her because we have done so many different ways. But you are all right its the following through with it. I have tried the binky heaven and the binky fairy but she wont do it so now I am gonna try the bird one...lol I will let you know how that goes. She has 3 binkies lying around the house she only likes the green one because theres no slits in it next I am gonna put a slit in it. Keep your fingers crossed...thanks again

I started cutting just a little every day off the bonky until it was gone. It was hard for a couple of days but after that she said it was broke and didn't want them anymore. Jus an idea. This worked wonders.

i had the same trouble with my 3 year old and only in the last 2 months has she finally given up her diddys... i kept hiding them and telling her the birds had got them and given them to their babies coz they needed them more, she went without them all through the days but had them back for bed. eventually i started telling her that i would bring them up to her when the birds brought them back and eventually she stopped asking for them...it was hard work but the more you persist with it it will be worth it in the end... it might sound silly but it worked for me, but you have to be really convincing about the birds having them....lol

My 3yo sucks her fingers, and I am counting on time and some gentle suggestions to help her realize that it isn't somthing she wants to do forever. She will realize when she gets to school that all the other kids aren't doing it!

I saw the "binky fairy" trick on a tv show though and that looked pretty clever. You tell he that now that she is a big girl it is time to let the binky fairy come and take the binkys so that other little kids can have them. Package them all up and make a big deal of setting them out for the fairy to take at bedtime. Then in the morning, have a surprise that was left by the fairy. Maybe a "big girl" thing that she wasn't allowed to have before if there is something you feel she is ready for? I wish I could try this with mine, but I can't cut off her fingers!!!

What worked for me was simple. I made a slit in the binkie with a knife. Right in the tip. Then left it laying around where she could get to it. She grabbed it as usual, started to suck on it, then took it out and looked at it. I told her it must be broken. My daughter was only 2 at the time, but it worked like a charm. Then whenver she wanted a binkie i would give her the broken one, until she stopped asking for it. The first few nap times were hard. Good luck !!!!
