I'm going thru the same thing with my 3 year old.  Ever since he gave up his binky, he needs me to lay with him while he falls asleep.  Once he's asleep, I leave the room (unless I fall asleep!!)..The problem is that he keeps getting up in the middle of the night!!  He has no desire to sleep alone...it's so exhausting.  He has all of his favorite animals, night light and fan, but no luck.

Grrrr....

We leave a little desk light sort of on all night while our son is in bed. It has worked ever since we've started it for the last month.

My son sleeps in a twin size bed so, there is a little bit of room for me. Some nights are easier than others but, it is a step in the right direction for us. Congrats on your daughter sleeping in her own room:)

Thanks, everyone. For starters, I just realized the toddler bed (converted crib) was too high, so we've taken it out of her room. I have put her mattress on the floor so I can help snuggle her to sleep. I told her a little story last night then snuggled her, and it took a little while, but she did fall asleep. She woke up a few times during the night, and I came back in (once I knew she wouldn't comfort herself back down) to help her back to sleep. She made it until 7:00 this morning. Whoo hoo!

I am going to be doing the same with my 2 year old son, putting him in his own room - have heard that a night light will possibly help

I have a cosleeping 2 yr old and am curious about whether to move him to his own bed already. Elizabeth, does your son sleep in a toddler bed?

Maybe you could try laying down with your daughter in her bed at night until she falls asleep. She may come to your room at night for awhile but, just let her know that she sleeps in her big girl bed and take her back to her room. I have a 2 1/2 year old son and I still sit with him each night until he falls asleep. He wakes up occassionally and comes to my room but, I take him back to bed and he goes back to sleep. I hope this helps. Good luck.
