idiopathic thrombocytapenia

Hi, my 2 and a half year old has just been diagnosed with this blood problem which means that she has a very low platelet count (9). It's not uncommon apparently. UNtil her levels recover she is at some risk of bleeding internally or externally and I am inclined to become a 'kid gloves' parent. she also has some mobility issues that make her somewhat clumsy. anyone any experience of this? should i let her go to nursery? should I put a cycle helmet on her? Interested in anyone's experience of the same. Thanks

I have very clumsy kids too but not with any blood problems but I know at my daycare they keep a close eye on the kids and my oldest daughter has only been hurt once and that's cuz her and another child fought over the same toy but on the "play ground" I guess you would call is all padded so if the fall they won't get hurt. If you are really worried then yes by all means put a helmet on her after all it is for her prtection and they make some cute ones now or even clear ones but also expect some stares and questions from people but don't get offended cuz they are just being concerned or just plain nosey. I am not sure if this will help but I hope it at least gives you some ideas.
