Rachelle....you are doing a fantastic job! thats why women have the babies, hey? (ha ha). I know what you mean about talking to a therapist rather than family, your right....family do tend to either judge or because they are emotionally involved they it becomes difficult. I recently talked to a therapist, not about depression but about other stuff, and it definately helped. They can also provide further insight into yourself, more so than talking to a family member.

Give your self a massive pat on the back for doing what you need to do to better the situation.

What does young mum mean? 19-22? (just curious)

I suffered from depression after The Little One. I felt all like I was going crazy and nothing I did was ever good enough. Finding the balance between both babes was tough. But, I talked to my OB at my 6 week checkup and got on Zoloft. I started at 25mgs and gradually increased to 100mg. It was a miracle drug for me at the time. I think my hormones were so out of whack (only 18month in between kids) I needed something chemically to put me back on track. I started seeing a therapist and talking to them helped a lot. To be honest, for ME- talking to my man, or my family didn't help, I needed someone who couldn't and wouldn't judge me. Family does. Eh. To each his own I guess.

The Little One is 15 months, and I have been off the Zoloft for 3 months. Slowly weaned myself off, and learned new ways of controlling my anxiety, depression. (counting to ten, breathing, etc.)

Dunno if that helps at all. But there you have it.

Just my two cents. I don't mean to offend.

Hello Samantha.....I am not a young mum but had depression when I was young. I am now a young 37yr old, with a 2 year old.

You need to talk to your doctor, there are lots of different solutions out there. You are not alone......Just know that it will not always be this way.

I hope you have family around you that is supporting you. If not, again talk to your doctor who can advise you on the many organisations that do provide support.

Take care
