What worked for us was to put milk in sippy cups only and this also helped us get rid of the bottle soon after the switch. Also we waited for our pedi to give the go ahead on cows milk at his one year appt. Age 1-2 should be whole milk but according to WIC nutritionist the new standard is to go ahead and switch to 1% or skim at age 2. Evedently todays diet provides plenty of the needed fat through other foods rather then whole milk.

You can start cows milk at the age of 1.Between 1-2 you give full cream milk, from 2-5 you give semi skimed milk and after 5 you give skimmed milk or low fat milk. However I am having trouble getting my daughter to drink straight cows milk, she doesn't like it except when it is in the form of a babycino lol. I too incorperate it into her formula. I start with just 50mls in a 180ml bottle and each day I increase it a little bit. Most of the time it is a hit amd miss thing. I have even tried giving her chocolate milk but she still doesn't like it. So I find othe ways to get calcium into her, she won't eat cheese as a snack just on it's own but she loves yoghurt ( so Igive that to her for desserts and snacks) and I put cheese into all of her sandwiches, in her eggs in the morning, and I put parmesan cheese in the breadcrumbs if I am making schnitzel or crumbed lamb cutlets.

try to serve it at the same temp as when you give her formula. if she has formula from a bottle put the milk in the bottle too. also make sure it whole milk only. if they don't have all the fats in the milk their bodies can't absorb the vitamins.

Its advised you cotinue using formula until 1yr so they get all the vitamins etc, you can use cows milk in cooking from 6mths. I dont see the harm in giving it a little earlier so long as they eat well

I started with about 2 oz to see how my son reacted. He loved it! So I continued to increase his oz every time I gave it to him. We started around 10 months. BUt I suggest doing it when your baby is eating enough solids to be off of formula since the milk will replace the formula eventually.
