Asking your Dr is probably best, but I wouldn't worry too much in the meantime, especially if you nursed at all, so many hormonal changes with the pregnancy, then again with nursing (and/or weaning). Hope things get back to normal for you soon though. . . wondering when you're going to get your period is the last thing you want to be worrying about when you have a toddler!

I had the same problem after my first daughter 19 months ago and I emailed my oby/gyn and he said they can be irregular for quite a while. I got them every month and a half (3 times) and then I got pregnant again. So far I have only had them once since my second daughter has been born. A close friend of mine had her son the same time I had my 1st daughter and she still has irregular periods, so don't worry, it's normal :)

with my son i breast feed him and didn't get regular periods until he was 2 i stopped feeding him when he was almost 1 i got a regular period with my dtr just in time to find out i got pregnant again so i understand your worry my md told me all i could do was wait since the pregnancy test was - also for the first month then they had to do an ultrasound for dates and it showed the time i got my only period between the two they r 19 months apart the dr can do a blood test but its is about as acurate as the pee tests if you have had a baby recently good luck for which ever way u want it to be!!

Our hormonal systems take a while to go back to normal. My periods were irregular until I went back on the pill. Then when I went off the pill again they were regular and I got pregnant but had a miscarriage. Now since the miscarriage they are heavy and irregular again- about every 45-50 days. It has made getting pregnant again a huge challenge! My doctor said I had a hormonal imbalance and suggested going back on the pill or taking progesterone therapy. Neither are an option though since I want to conceive. Try not to worry because it is very common for a lot of women. My friend has 3 children and doesn't have normal (or any) periods until she stops breast feeding. It's just the way her body works.

I wish mine would've stayed away for longer. I got it back regularily in 3 months. Like the other said don't worry too much, stressing over it can make you even more irregular. Hopefully your doctor will get back to you soon.

I would not worry too much. Our son is 11 months old and I'm still not regular. I just started back on the pill this month so I'm hoping that will help to regulate mine. I would talk to your Doc. Are you breast feeding?

I've heard that it can take up to 6 months to regulate after having a baby. Definitely go see the doctor, however.
