I guess it depends on the child. I personally think so. I have a 2 year old and i slowly introduced eveything at a mth or so before his birthday.. now at almost two mths past his birthday he understands things alot better. He can talk to me, tell me he has to go, and isnt afraid. As a preschool teacher i think its best to let him be until he shows interest, Ive seen kids trained too early and then go on to have alot of accidents. This may not be the case with your son but its always better when your words are being understood.

depends on the child. but my son is 18 months and already potty trained. just make it fun! i dont think hes too young. start having him get used to the potty now. i know this sounds wierd but sit him naked on the potty while u feed him-its a start and it works

16 months is a bit young, I have read that majority of women reported that their LOs were trained around 2.5-3 years old. You should wait until he shows interest in the potty and do not force it on him..check out this potty training info for more ideas and suggestions as to how to go about it:

Hope it helps :)

My second daughter did the same thing with her diaper! She never really went in the potty either. I would suggest that if he is pulling on his diaper, take it off of him and sit him on the potty for a few minutes. If nothing happens and his diaper is dry, you can put it back on him. At least he'll begin to connect no diaper and potty. He may not actually want to potty for a while; that is how my daughter was. She actually pulled hers off herself a few times and had accidents and that was not fun. He'll get the hang of it. If he does start going in the potty when you sit him on it, I would just take him to the potty about every 1 1/2 hours, or if he's trying to take it off again. You know your son and you'll see his signs.

Personally I think its a little young to start unless they are showing interest. None of my potty trained kids were started until 2, and one didn't even start until 2.5, but picked it up QUICK. I really think it depends on the understanding of the child. My mother said that I wanted to go on the potty when I was about that age, and that I was trained at about 18 months if I remember correctly. You could always introduce the potty and let you child decide if they are interested at this point. If not, re-introduce in a few more months. :)
