Is anyone keeping red dye #40 and yellow 6 out of thre childs diet?

I am concerned about the dyes in food (red 40 & yellow 6), is there anyones with these concerns?

I dont look specifically at these additives, overall I try and cook foods from scratch and dont buy sauces, over processed foods, or ready meals. All home made foods so I know whats in them. I keep sweets and treats to a minimum and try and give them natural snacks like fruit (which thankfully they love) natural yogurt and honey. I try and avoid sugar by using honey instead (where possible). But of course kids will be kids and I really dont like them to feel left out by not having the odd packet of potato chips or chocolate bar but it does make them all the more grateful and appreciative when they do get treats. The best things to avoid are fizzy flavored sodas, the amount of sugar in those is just crazy and enough to send even the calmest of kids into a frenzy!!

I don't cut out those ones specifically, but I do try and limit the foods he eats that contain artificial anything.

Yes, in general I am concerned about all the additives in food nowadays. I am not super gung ho but try to buy organic when i can and read labels for amounts of sugar and sodium in things. My nephew had a reaction to foods that had this dye in it and would get crazy like he drank 2 shots of espresso. I did let them have a couple of jelly beans for Easter though. I think if you just limit it the best you can, you are doing a service to your kids.
