Do i expect too much. My son is three and is as bright as a button, you can have a decent conversation with him about all sorts but he seems to have the attention span of a goldfish. When i turn the telly off like i have just now he seems at a loss as to know what to do, he is ammusing himself as i speak but usually lasts about five minutes. Is that the norm for toddlers, boys?

my lil boy is exactly the same,he goes 2 pre school all day but wen he gets home he has no idea wot he would like to do?ive started to cut down tv time and have started to do things with him,at present were making a farm.its going well and he seems very happy with the time we spend together, but the moment we finish what were doing he just sems bored again,i think maybe its just a phase and hopefully theyll grow out ov it!!!

My boy is the same as the rest of think " the attention span of a goldfish" is pretty accurate. BUT there is hope............. I have found that the building LEGO ( I can't remember what the jumbo ones are called), and tinker toys, are really good, because they have to use their  imaginations to make something themselves.... my son loves them... and can hold his attention for a while. Good Luck!

YES! In your question of normality for boys. I've got 2 with another on the way. (shoot me j/k) I did notice that toys that were "supposed" to be for their age ranges NEVER held their interest. I honestly believe its the complexity they enjoy. I mean they are typical in cars and trucks and action figures, but the 3-5 and all that, they could care less about. Also they are ALOT more physical than I notice alot of peoples kids are and they only other boys I've witnessed it in are boys that have older brothers. Maybe my kids are a bit too boy. LOL. (p.s. my three year old is the same, my only saving grace is he has an older brother otherwise I'd be lost.) Good Luck

my son thinks if he looks like this then il put the tv back on or allow him on the pc but once he realises theres no chance he usually plays well altho he demands others share their toys but gets upset wen kids play with his this is whats driving me crazy

Thanks Kelly, my son goes to nursery two mornings a week untill after easter and then we may increase it to five but still seems to have a lack of interest to play independently. I guess he'd be happy for me to sit with him but i can only do so much of that and even then there have been occasions where i'm left doing the playing and he's moved on to something else lol
