My one year old son HATES his crib. He screams and crys if we even get close to it. He co-slept with me when he was younger but has been sleeping in his crib for 6 months now. We have a bedtime routine but I always have to rock him to sleep and then put him to bed. He will sleep in y regular bed even when im not with him with no problems. I can just lay him down awake and he will go to sleep. He only fusses in his crib. Do you think he is too young to move to a toddler bed?

i had my son moved into his toddler bed just after his 1st bday. he loves it and we have had no problems. during naptime sometimes he will get up to play but he usually crawls back into bed to nap. we have a big plastic firetruck bed and it is very difficult to fall out of, though my son does climb over the sides by choice.

We moved our daughter into the "big girl bed" at about 13 months, she just got to tall for the crib, and she had no prob. with the change has almost never gotten back out of bed!! yaa but please remember to baby proof the room and put up a baby gate or close the door !

it is safe enough while sleeping but if he gets up it could be a problem if you don't hear him as there are many things that he can get into...

I moved my son to his toddler bed at 13 months old and have never once regretted it. My son goes to bed on time, snuggles into his blankets, and never fights me on it. My only thought is to get those side rails until he is a little bigger, unless the toddler bed has them built in. Of all my friends who are just now battling the toddler bed transition, most have told me they wish they had done it sooner, like me. Good luck!

It sounds like he is ready for the move to the toddler bed. If it was me I would get one with the partial sides so that there is less risk of him falling out of bed. They do learn not to if they do though - my son fell out of bed a few times and now never does.
