I think it's ok to start getting her used to the idea this early, but I heard that if you start too early they can have problems later on. Also, was told by my sister in law that kids aren't really ready until they know the difference between pee and poop. Good luck.

Timing all depends on your daughters interest. Have her come in the bathroom with you and talk about how big girls use the potty and she will to someday, have a potty in the bathroom that she can sit on so she gets used to the idea. Let her run around the backyard naked so she can get used to the cues that this feeling means the water is about to come out and this pressure means, well, you know. When she's ready to try the potty she'll be asking questions from the groundwork you lay now. I do suggest videos like Once upon a Potty and Elmo's Potty time to give catchy toons to stick in your kids mind about how accidents are ok and keep trying and washing hands, etc.

I was wondering the same thing but my daughter is 15months. I've been putting her on a potty with her diaper just for now so she nows alittle bit and that is helping me
