Its me ...not my toddler.

I have a 3 year old son...and I am expecting another baby in March 2010. We have let our son sleep with us all the time...Now my husband works nights, and I want to keep my son close to me in case anything happens...I mean anything... (his room is right next to ours) I worry about there being a fire, earthquake, robber, or anything else that I would not be able to reach my son in time. Its time to get him used to sleeping in his own room before baby comes...

I feel like I am going crazy, and that I am being so selfish, for not letting my son to be more independent.

Is there any other mothers that are going through this as I am???

My 2 and a half year old daughter still sleeps in our room in her toddler bed. With my older daughter I had to gradually go from sitting on her bed until she was asleep and then to the floor and then to the door, outside the door etc.. It took awhile but we were much better for it when we were through. Good luck!!

Youre right, you do need to let your son be more independent which is a very scary thing to do! I do feel for you. Im sure every mum has the same thoughts and fears, I know I do, but I am glad to say i did put my son in his own room at five months, he will be two in a couple of weeks and I am still using my baby monitor which ticks and lights up with every single breath that he takes! This monitor drives my boyfriend mad but I have to have it on for my own peace of mind. Maybe try that, I can hear every little movement he makes through the monitor. It does help. Good luck. x
