okay I'm sorry i definitely should have elaborated more... He's 8 months old. His crib is in our room, (we have 1 bedroom.) We do give him bathes before bed, and read books, etc. We try to leave him and go to sleep on his own (more more than 10 min tho, bc i can't be that much of a hard-ass) he falls and hits his head on the rails too....

Is his crib in your bedroom? Are you putting him to sleep about the same time you go to bed? How long does he stay awake for? To me I would just ignore it. If he is sharing a room with you it might be time to move him to his own room if that is a possiblity. I would just do your bedtime routine, say your good nights and then shut the door. He will lay down and go to sleep once he figures out that nothing is going to happen. If you give him attention then then he gets what he wants and he stays awake longer.

Try telling him what you are going to do after he goes to bed. lf that doesn't work, tell him "now it's time for you to go to bed, but stay up a little longer to see what l do after you go to bed". Do dishes, or take a bath; something that would bore him. l'm not sure watching tv would work because he'd want to watch it too. Or maybe turn the ligts out except for one reading lamp and read a book. l'd try that (except l took a bath after l put my son to bed) and l'd read until he fell asleep. My son went to bed easily for me after he knew what l would be doing when he couldn't see me.
