It depends on the kid. Some people bite their kids back and I have heard that works very well, others spank them or put them in time out. Time out doesn't work for our kids. The best method I have seen and heard of is for the kid to get bitten back by whoever he/she bites. Most of the time spanking doesnt work, because it shows violence to replace the violence of biting... Doesnt make much sense in that situation. But even though you dont want your kid to be hurt he does need to understand that it hurts and the only way he will understand that is if he gets it done to him.

Hello Jamie

Biting is really hard to deal with, especially with one so young and unable to understand it HURTS! My son went through this phase for a while, and I would also say a firm NO then put him down immediately from my knee if he was there, or just pick him up stand him in the middle of the room and walk away. He soon realised that it wasn't much fun being ignored when he bit me! Your son needs to know that it's wrong and the only way to show him this is to go overboard with praise when he shows any signs of kindness or being gentle, and ignore the biting completely!

Good Luck x
