Lying 3 year olds

I have two 3 year olds that are constantly lying. I can catch them red handed and they will continue lying to my face. It is driving me crazy and I don't really know how to get them to stop. Any suggestions???

that age a lot of children enjoy making up story's. I have a 6 yr old, 5 yr old 2 yr old and 11 month old and I'm due with my 5th. The thing we found that worked fairly well (we still have problems with them) was confronting them and disciplining them for lying to us. Each child has different triggers and the hardest thing is figuring out what works. with one of ours it was taking away his computer time, with another it was sending him to his room to be alone. We talked to each child and told them how much it hurt us when they lied to us and that we loved them but we couldn't trust them because they refused to tell us the truth. I am a Christian and we told our children that God didn't like it when they lied. They still do it on occassion and if we come right down to it so do we as parents the main thing is being consisten with whatever you decide to use as punishment for them. Eventually I hope they will get over it (and I'm including mine as well) best of luck to ya!!

have you tried the 'black tongue- i know your lying' trick. my daughter might just be naive but she falls for it everytime, when i know shes blatantly lying i get down to her level and say now mummy is going to give you a chance to tell me the truth before i look at the colour of your tongue. i stick out my tongue and ask what colour is mummys then i say if i look ay your tongue and its the same colour as mines yur telling the truth if its black then i will be very cross. i look them straight in the eye and say now tell me the truth. my daughter cant lie to me now i just need to get down to her level and look at her lol
