My 13-month-old son is addicted to Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny. Although I'm fully aware this is NOT an appropriate kids' film, it is literally the only thing I can get him to sit and watch for more than 5 minutes at a time. He grows extremely bored with my all time favorite Disney cartoon movies...nothing else seems to grab him like Tenacious D. :) Being a single stay-at-home mother, I'm willing to do whatever it takes to occupy my son so i can do dishes, laundry, etc. I need some suggestions on movies that he may like that are more educational and less vulgar. :)

When my son was young the only videos that held his attention was the Baby Einstein. I'm thinking it was something about the timing, images and music. No way would he have watched Disney. Heck, he's 2.5 now and probably wouldn't sit and watch a movie. Most discs have a "repeat play" feature so that it will cycle without stopping. Still, to this day, those discs will grab his attention!

Maybe go to your library and try a bunch of different characters to see if you can hit on one he likes before you invest in the purchase of any ...

Wow, thanks to all of you! I do agree that Jack Black's awesome facial features and crazy eyebrows may have something to do with the enchantment...as well as the music. I will try more movies sharing the genre of Mary Poppins. :) Wish me luck and thanks again!

Maybe it's the music that he likes. Have you tried some musicals like Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music? I agree with the suggestion of seeing what your local library has so that you can have him view videos before you buy them.

My husband also just suggested School Of Rock. Again, Jack Black, very little swearing, no real violence, and a lot of music.

Nacho Libre? It's Mexican wrestling, but it's still Jack Black, if that's who your son likes. No really bad foul language, but a lot of physcal fighting. Sorry, that's the only thing I can think of that might grab his attention like Tenacious D.
