My 1 yr. old won't chew her food....what to do?

My daughter just turned 1 the day after christmas and she has been eating solid texturized food for about two months now. Now that I have stopped giving her baby food she will take a bite but she will not chew the food and swallow it. I have tried everything from smashing the food up so the pieces are really tiny to adding water, but she just leaves it in her mouth. Especially meats like chicken and beef. I have no idea how to get her to chew but I am not going back to baby food either. Any tips...

my daughter is simular and at two years of age she still struggles with satsumas and things that need lots of chewing.

Sometimes its a case of having too much food infront of them and them rushing there food down not bothering to chew!

i would just carry on giving her normal foods without the mushing it up .. even if its mash potato but its the same as what is on your plate its not getting her into the habit of getting 'special treatment' as that could carry on as she gets older and wiser!

I think alot of it is us panicking i was not really allowing my daughter food to have food I was worried about her choking on and i think us worrying can some times play a big part.

Just give her small little bits of food every so often that she needs to chew and keep a good eye on her maybe eat the same with her and hopefully she will leed by example!

Hope it all goes well x
