Mine is 17 months old and does exactly the same thing. He doesn't want to be held, so I just leave him and sit close by on the floor so he knows I'm there. I guess you will just have to weather it, I don't think there's necessarily all that much you can do about it.

How old is your son? I have a 2 year old that did this right before his 2nd birthday (aug.08) . He used to throw himself out all the time and i would actually just pick him up and make him sit in time out when he did that and he would stop. i mean every child is different but you just have to be careful they do not hurt themselves doing it. He used to do it all the time when i would be holding his hand and we were walking and i would end up pulling his arm everytime he threw himself out because i did not want him to smack the ground, but even so that's dangerous because their arms are so fragile and can be dislocated. He will probably just grow out of it, like my son did. All little kids do that really.

Hi...First make sure he won't get hurt everytime he throws himself on the ground whenever he's upset...Have you talked to your doctor about it? Coz what you're doing is right--ignoring it, coz if you give in to it then he'll just have his way and it would be harder to change that habit. Have you also tried soothing him when he's having a time like that? coz sometimes kids cry and they dont even know why they're crying and can't make themselves stop crying...
