My daughter was 8weeks prem and walked at 10.half months really 8half months .He is obviously not ready yet,all kids are different at reaching their milestones.I know of someone whos son didnt walk until 17months so dont try and stress too much. All my kids were premmies and l have 5 of them,if anything prem babies thrive and learn to catch up pretty quick. Some kids are quicker than others. My 2 yrold has developed quick in most things, her talking is coming together now,so there all different.l would wait until he reached 17months and if your still concerned then get a referral to a pediatrician.Good Luck.

My son was 15 months when he was actually walking on his own. I just refused to carry him around everywhere. I'd hold his arms up to help him balance and then just the one arm and we progressed to him walking on his own. He'll be 2 next month and he's running up a storm half the time :)

As far as the pacifier question, I think you just take it away and don't ever give it back but it may take about a week before he's able to sleep well and he may switch to being a thumb-sucker. Since he's a bit older, you might be able to have a meaningful "ceremony" of some sort to move on from the pacifier first. Just make sure he gets lots of extra cuddles since he's using the pacifier to comfort himself and he won't have that available anymore.

My son walked around 16 months and his friend, 17 months. As long as your pediatrician thinks it's fine, it's fine. Just know your son is not unusual at all. Some babies just don't feel the need until later and it can be stressful. Try not to compare him to other babies. You probably have a very good idea of whether he's healthy and normal or may have a health or development issue since you know him best. If you think something's wrong, then you should make the doctor listen to you.

Dont worry - all kids are different. I didnt walk til I was 22 months and I dont even have the excuse of being premature! My daughter didnt walk til 22 months either....and her daughter is a year old next week...and not crawling or even standing. Guess the first-born girls in my family are just lazy!

My other kids are more average.

Thanks a lot!

My baby boy also has slight low muscle tone. He started sitting late, putting weight on his legs late.

Just wanted to know if you did some excersies with him.

My son did not walk until he was 19 months old. I did take him to the Dr. They said he had low mustle tone but he did eventually walk on his own. They say if they do not walk between 15 and 18 months you may want to get them checked out. You do need to adjust for the prematurity though. So if he was a few months early than you would subtract that time. I wouldn't worry too much yet.

my son was on time (well, a little late) and he didn't walk until 16 months, almost 17 months.  i wouldn't worry about it.  also, i'm not sure about this, but aren't you suppost to go by the age they would be if they weren't early? like if he was 2 months early, he'd only be 14 months by his "propper" age?  i think that's what i heard... but i'm not sure :) either way, don't worry!
