Just started recently. He goes to bed at 7.30pm and sleeps for an hour and a half during the day.

Quoting Leanne:

Quoting Marnie:

give him/her a set of books or toys and leave them alone. tell them you will be back in ___ minutes. 9 times out of ten it works for me as long as I don't break down and engage them or they don't engage me for more than the short quick "command"

do you find your child goes back to sleep? or just plays happily for a while?

Meant to add.. thanks for your suggestion. Im going to try it.

Quoting Chelsi:

See if he will stay in bed but with a couple of toys. My daughter tends to wake up on the earlier side every now and then and she plays with her stuffed animals or "reads" her books.

Thanks will give it a try.. . I'll try anything to get some more sleep..

Is this something that just started? What time is bedtime? What time is nap time, and how long does your child usually sleep for? The average 2 1/2 year old needs 11-13 hours per day of sleep. Is it possible your child is actually getting too much sleep?? Maybe you could try pushing back bedtime by 30mins. and/or moving up or cutting back a little on the nap. That worked for us.
