My 2 year old has always been a sound sleeper ever since he was an infant. He has always slept through the night until recently. He has a very strict schedule and is always in bed around 7:30pm. But lately he has been fighting me to go to sleep and he will wake up at random times during the night and is awake arounf 5:30 am. I am not sure what to do. We take walks everyday, and I have tried everything. please Help!!!

I would agree with everyone else and have him checked out by a doctor. my little guy using stops sleeping through the night when he is hitting a growth spurt, getting new teeth or an ear infections.

I always find that whenever my daughter is going through a developmental change it always affects her sleep patterns. Shes a good sleeper and goes down well, but if somethings going on i.e. teeth coming through, or just about to walk, new word etc her sleep pattern's goes to the dogs.

Also I find that quite innocently when she wakes in the night I go to sooth her, and then before I know it a patttern has emerged and shes waking up at the same time every night because she knows I going to come in and lie with her til she sleeps.

So my advice is as long as you know he's not sick and nothing else serious is wrong, be firm and say its bedtime, follow your bedtime routine to the tinest detail, same order every night. When he starts playing up, just say goodnight and leave the room. Of course tears will happen and its sooooo hard but sleep is important and its a lesson that needs to be relearned. Within 3-4days things should return to normal again.

Same if he wakes int the night, just go in sooth him and let him know you there, but tuck him in and say good night and leave.

Alway keep and eye out for him or if there's some other way of checking on him without him seeing you so you know he's safe.

Talk to his doctor too if you feel that you need too. There's lots of help out there, but sometimes there so much its overwhelming and very contradictory. In the end it needs to be something you agree with and can do and follow through with.

Good luck!

have his two yr old molars come in yet? he may be cutting  those. and may have fluid in his ears. I 'd see if you can look in his mouth, see if the teeth are coming in. if not i also recommend having the ears checked.  you can also try and put him to bed a little later. My 2 1/2 yr old goes down between 8 and 830. and she will sleep til 730 -8 the next day. we were putting her to bed around 7 or 730 and she was up at 530 -6

The first thing I would do is get him checked out by a doctor, my boy does this when he gets ear infections...  Better to be safe than sorry and if this is out of norm for him I would start with the doctor and go from there.  Good luck.
