I know she is growing but my 2 year old laila is constantly telling me that she is hungry. She is very small and has never had problems with weight (other than being naturally tiny) she has always been a good eater. I have never allowed my kids to snack too much between meals and when they do they always have healthy snacks, they don't drink pop or juice and they always eat very good at meal time. The last week laila seems to be telling me she is hungry every hour and it is just not like her, she is very active so I do allow her to have small snacks but it's just so out of character for her has anyone else's child done this out of the blue?

Lol my son turned three in January and is going thru a major growth spurt. I'm not exaggerating; last week he was in the fridge every 20 minutes...

Might just be a growth spurt, but I agree with Yvonne that kids often say they're hungry when they're bored. If you are keeping your daughter busy with activities and she is telling you she's hungry even when she's occupied, she probably is. As long as she eats healthy food it's probably fine. Kids are naturally good at regulating their food intake.

My son will be two in May and he was doing the same thing, at a recent check up with our family doctor I asked about it and he said, as mentioned above, that he was probably going through a growth spurt and as long as he was still eating regular meals okay a healthy snack inbetween meals wouldn't hurt. He told me to push veggies, fruits, and whole grain snacks. Stay away from cookies, candies, ect. My son is hyper enough without the extra sugar, I wouldn't dream of giving him more. Lol.

She might just be going through a growth spurt that makes her more hungry. My children are the kind of kids that have to have less portion more times a day.So they always seem hungry. But one day they eat a lot and the next time they don't. Some days they like green things the next they only eat red things. It just ends up that way. I don't think you have anything to worry about yet.

I've read that 3 meals and up to 3 snacks (healthy) is fine. She may be having a growth spurt so I would try my best to be sure she doesn't go hungry.

it could be because kids her age can't tell the difference between hunger and thirst. Try giving her some water and see if that helps.
She could also be going through a growth spurt. Make sure she gets three good meals and two good snacks during the day.
