My 3 1/2 year old has recently started waking during the night and coming into bed me and hubby...any suggestions as to how to get him to stop? We always end up carrying him back to his own bed and sometimes that works however sometimes it only lasts for a little while cause we wake up again to him in the middle of us sound asleep. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

We went through this at about the exact same time.  At first, we would let her sleep with us for awhile and then take her back.  But, after several weeks of being waken up every night with repeat visits we got serious.  The taking her back wasn't working, so we finally locked our bedroom door (not hers, ours.)  We told her we were going to do it, and she knocked quietly (we didn't answer) the first 2-3 nights and then never did it again.

we put a night light in her room and put up a baby gate.  So she could keep herself happy with her toys and also call out to us if she needed but wouldn't be out into things or in our room.  She does well with it.

My 3 year old daughter has been getting up in the middle of the night and getting in bed with us also. She has been doing this for a couple of months now. I just keep putting her back in her bed. Last night she threw a huge fit and insisted that she was not going to sleep in her bed, but I was consistant and she finally gave up and slept in her bed the rest of the night. I think you just have to be consistant.

Thank you both so very much for your help.  I've asked Fox why he keeps coming into Mommy and Daddy's bed and he's given me a different answer each time..and they are cute answers...the first was because it was dark in his room (mind you he's never had a night light so he's use to the dark), the second was "because I love you guys" and the third was "cause I'm tired".  I'll have to try the rewards thing next..wish me luck..lol

i hvae a 2 and a half year old and he started doing it about 3 months ago, i tried a heap of different things but he is a little younger so i dont think bailey would understand treats, i figured out that he was scared of the dark so i gave him a night light and that has stopped it, He has woken up with a few night mares but i just took him back to bed and sat with him. i dont know if he will go back to his old ways i guess i just keep my fingers crossed

you could try rewards for sleeping through eg new crayons or colouring book etc start off with one night for a reward then slowly more it to two and 3 and so on till you build it up enough that he does it automatically.

also have yu checked that there are no noises or street lights waking him and scaring him
