My daughter wasn't using the potty until she was over 3.5. We started with her sitting on the potty for a sticker and then getting a sticker when she used the potty. THe other thing that helped is she knew that if she didn't use the potty she couldn't go to preschool. She continued having pull ups at night but really in a couple of weeks she was finally staying dry all day. It only worked because she was ready. My son was also oler than 3 when he was using the potty both day and night.

i know everyone says they will when they are ready,im just getting very concerned because my son turns 4 in december and its part of the reason why he wont be able to go to kinder next year. he has used the toilet before,he even stood up and peed but now wont even sit on the potty. its like he is just lazy and would rather use a nappy.

My son is under 2 1/2 but recently became very interested in potty training. I jumped at the chance as I had tried before with no luck. We have books to read about the potty process and I went to the library to order all the potty board books for my son to read. He's really gotten excited over it. We tried the m&m trick but he's a treat monster so I don't really like it but it works! I still haven't had a successful poo on the potty but we are still working. Sometimes you just have to let them take their time... they will tell you when they are ready!

With my 3 year old, I tried the same thing at 2, 2 1/2, and 3-- just put him in undies and gave him M&Ms whe he used the toilet-- 1 for pee, 2 for poop. I didn't work at 2 or 2 1/2, but when I tried it at 3 and a couple months, he was trained in about a week. We also did bigger rewards such as he got a toy he'd been wanting when he went a WHOLE day without an accident, and then when he went a whole week we took him to the zoo to see the new baby elephant. Really, though, I think it came down to him being ready!

I tried the naked trick, but my 2 year old daughter was completely uninterested. So we have given up for now. I hope that when the school year starts and she goes back to daycare, seeing other kids use the potty will get her interested in potty usage herself.

Have you tried the naked trick. My 3 year old was trained just shy of his 3rd birthday; I had him go naked in the house for a straight week, then he graduated to just wearing underwear for a week and then he was able to wear clothes. Over the course of the 3 weeks we only had 3 worked well for us.
