If they are too short they will be hurting and annoying Try revitanail. It smooths the nail and as it grows reduces the pain, catching etc.. Keep her hands busy!

My daughter used to bite her nails. and I got her to stop by explaining to her that nails are to be preety for girls. and i took her to a place to get her nails done. they did the whole treatment. washed her hands , rubed lotion on them and then painted them whatever color she wanted. she thought it was the coolest thing. so i told her if she bites them all the preetys will come off and i cant take her back to get them done again. but if she is a good girl and keeps her fingers out of her mouth i will keep them painted and we will have a mommy daughter day one time a week and get our nails done. I keeped her nails painted for about a month as long as she didnt bite them. of course she freaked out when i would just chip off so after bath we would repaint them . and once a week we would get icecream and get our nails done. it worked and i only had to do it for about a month. and now she is five and i only paint them when she asks. its worth a try and some places will paint a childs nails for like $5. or free if you get yours done.!

Just keep up with cutting them very often to keep them on the short side wo that there is nothing to bite. I find that if my daughters nails are getting longer she does the same thing.

I tell her to stop biting I show her my nails and say mummy doesn't bite hers. or say mouths are for food only.

I wonder if she would still bite them if you just painted them "pretty." let her pick out a color she likes and maybe she'll be proud of them and not bite?? Nothing I've tried--just one of my brilliant ideas. lol

You have to way it up - if you put a fowl tasting polish ( or the like ) on her nails it becomes a problem when she's eating things with her hands.

TABASCO sauce, worked like a charm for me, most kids don't like the taste of it. Or you could use regular vinegar on her hands that should do the trick as well.

my daughter does the samething..she is almost 3 and she has done it since she learned that she has nails(well learned about hangnails lol). I try to keep them cut short but she will still bite them. I just keep telling her not to bite them cause your going to make your finger's hurt or tell her not to do it cause it nasty. It works but I still have to keep on her for doing it. So if you find anything that does work please let me know.

try keeping them trimmed short. My daughter occasionally bites her nails if they are too long.
