My son did the exact same thing. I tried bribes (stickers, suckers, hotwheels, etc) and it wasn't working. I tried taking away cartoon time too. But I kept encouraging him and taking him several times a day and just asked him to try. He finally started going on his own. I think he just wasn't ready. Girls are so much easier to train than boys in my experience! Good luck and have patience, it will happen!

My son is 2 1/2 and we were at this stage a few days ago, but the last 3 or 4 days we have been actually doing pretty good. Since we started potty training, he has been in strictly underwear(which worked wonders for the peeing part), but I found that it was still like pooping in a diaper for him. So, I told him that he couldn't wear his underwear until he started pooping in the potty (he LOVES his underwear). I just left him naked from the waist down. He knew that the poop didn't have anywhere to go except for in the potty. I also allowed him to move his potty to a spot of his choice to poop. He chose his room, so he could watch cartoons and poop. As long as he was trying, he was able to have the potty in his room. We will slowly move it back, but I found that by giving him the choice, helped big time (the bathroom can be kinda boring for a toddler). I think he feels like he is in control so I am not having to deal with the power struggle. He also gets to play with bubbles outside when he goes. Needless to say, I have blown more bubbles in the past few days than I have my entire life. Even if it is just a pebble, he gets to blow bubbles. Good luck. It will happen with time.

keep trying. sounds stupid, but sometimes it just takes time.

sit him on the potty after breakfast and after dinner for a couple of minutes. read a story, get him to relax. get him used to the idea of sitting.

we were at our wits end and ready to throw in the towel after speaking with our pediatrician. the next day, kid you not, our son pooped in the potty. maybe he heard us moaning about it during dinner and decided it was time to suck it up and go? i don't know.

no magic suggestion. just keep at it!

I am in the same boat with my 3 year and 3 month old. I have tried everything including singing and dancing while she sits on the potty.  I got her a book on poop thinking it would automatically change her. She was interesting for 3 days and then would not look at it again. I have realized that it is really up to her and the best thing to do is praise her when she does make it to the potty for poop. She is starting to ask me when can she go to school and I tell her that when she can poop in the potty, then she can start school. Hopefully this will convince her to give it a try. Good luck with your little one.

My son was scared to go poop until I had my husband show him how. Funny as it sounds but it worked. Good Luck.
