Sometimes that is very common in little kids. My brother stuttered when he was around that age and I also had a little girl that I babysit that stuttered at that age too. Both grew out of it. Not sure if this plays a part of not, but both were advanced for their age. My brother is now 25 yrs old and is in law school. The little girl is 4 yrs old and no longer stutters. Her mom took her for a speech evaluation when she was 2 yrs old and the therapist said that her speech was advanced for her age. I think sometimes kids stutter because their brain is going faster than their mouth can move. They want SO badly to tell you what all they are thinking, but can't get it out fast enough. Often times if this is the issue the brain and mouth catch up to each other as they become older and the stuttering stops. Letting her know that you are listening to her and she can take the time she needs can sometimes help.

It never hurts to get a speech evaluation and just see what they say. My guess is if she was talking fine before and there has been no head trama then she will most likely grow out of it. But always go with your gut. You know her best and if you feel something is wrong have it checked out.

Just calmly ask her to slow down and try again. Don't put pressure on her or get frustrated with it or it will get worse. Keep an eye on it and if you are worried, get an evaluation done by a speech therapist. If it is going to be a problem, the earlier you catch it, the easier it is to get rid of.
