My 4 year old asks us every night to stay there and watch him sleep. I tell no, and that Jesus and the angels are watching over him. Why does he do this, and how can I remedy it? I think it is also related to him saying "wait for me" if I leave a room to much before him. I tell he doesn't need me by his side we are only walking into the other room.

Hi, My little boy did this we started by sitting by his bed for 1 week then the next week moving slightly further way and so on as the weeks went by until I ended up at the door, then outside the door. Now I sit in the next room on the computer until he falls asleep he sometimes comes in if he needs something (toilet etc) but not often. It takes a little while but it works!!!!!!!!!! Hope it helps Tracy

Does the "Jesus and angels" thing work for him? Bedtime story if it does:
Mathew, Mark, Luke and John
Bless the bed that I lie on
4 corners to my bed, 4 angels 'round my head
1 to watch, 1 to pray and 2 to guide me through the day.
You can explain that a little more and tell him there are actually 4 watching him and 5 would be a crowd or I also tell my daughter that I can't go to bed until she does and that I've very tired/sleepy. Usually gets her to go to sleep faster. Just some thoughts. Good luck.
