I agree with Dora. I would sit down with your kiddo and maybe try and make his/her lesson in to a game. Perhaps you can ask your child to go get a few things from his/her room and you can do the same from yours. Then, explain that those are his/her toys and your stuff is your stuff. You can then play a game of ?My I borrow?" My son is 4 and he is very protective of his "stuff" he doesn't like to bring his lunch box to school because he is afraid that someone will take it or break it. There is no real personal space for them and I think sometimes the teachers go overboard with the whole sharing concept....

Try to remain calm. Ask your child why they took something that doesn't belong to them. Then explain why it is not nice and how it will make the other kid sad. Also make sure that your child even understand what stealing is. At that age they might think it is considered sharing and find nothing wrong with it.
