have you tried saying that he will get a surprise, so that he doesn't know what the reward will be? it worked for me. I had a hard time getting my 3 yr old to poop in the potty, but the 'surprise' thing worked.

One thing i have learned in the last few years of potty training children is not to put the diaper/pull up back on for them to poop in! Alot of the parents were getting frustrated and just putting the diaper on for them to poop. Keep showing him were it goes and rewarding when he gets it there! We put one little girl on the potty with a bottle of the baby prune juice after she went 4 days without pooping. We gave her books and sang to her, told her stories while she sat. After about 15 min she had no choice! it just came out! After that she had no problem! Also, having a stool helps give them something to push against. Good luck and don't give up!

Well I haven't tried putting a pull up in the toilet...that's a new one. I have given up asking him which hasn't helped for the last few months...But do you pull out the diaper after they poop and throw it away?? I'm sort of confused LOL!

Have you tried to put a nappy in the potty before he poops? My daughter was the same, we tried this and it helped her to go and now she is happy to do both in the big loo! But it does take time, she spent a good week pooping in her pants! I kept asking her too, but suddenly when I stopped asking her it kind of just took the pressure of her and she relaxed more and then went of her own accord in the potty.

he seems to know that it is where the poopy goes and he will sit there forever and then turn right around and do it in his underwear. When I ask him when he will poop on the potty he says "pretty soon mama"......He has started hiding in this closet to poop and then coming and telling me he's poopy.

All you really can do is keep putting him on the potty. Everytime you think of him; put him on the potty. I put my son on the potty every hour. Before his bath and after his bath. Before every meal, etc...It was frustrating because I was also pregnant with my second child. I thought "Oh my, I am going to have too many bottoms to wipe; with a new baby!" But, the persistance paid off. One night I was on my way to his room to put him on the potty and he ran past me, and went on his own. They also have to be to a point where they understand what that rumble in there tummy is. Be patient. I know it's exhausting, but really what else can you do...:)

What does he say? Is he scared of the pooping on the potty? Does he not like the feeling of pooping?

My daughter is 3 1/2 and she's only just been potty trained completely in the last 6 months or so. She started nursery in January which set her aback and i also flew back the uk when she was 2 and had to stick her in nappies for the 3 weeks as she just kept on having accident after accident.
